Mayer, Candy
Candy creates landscapes and still lifes of the borderland in pastels, acrylics, pen & ink, and mixed media collage. She is known for her scenes of El Paso and Dia de los Muertos works.
She has won awards in El Paso and Mexico, including Arts International, the Paquime Festival, the Sun Bowl, Mujeres sin Fronteras by the Mexican Consulate, and numerous EPAA shows. She has held two one woman shows at the Hal Marcus Gallery and one in her hometown in Iowa. She has had three joint shows with her photographer husband, Charlie.
In 2008, she was inducted into the Hall of Achievement at her high school in Iowa. In 2012, she was a part of the Desert Modern Show at the El Paso Museum in Art and had a retrospective show, "Thirteen Years on the Border."
